The fellowship of the rings is the first book in the lord of the rings series and its my favorite of all the books. I admired the symbolism in the novel the most. The ring symbolised drugs in my opinion and there were the hobbits who had to get rid of the addictive ring because they’re the most pure of heart and only they’d be strong enough to carry out the task. I found this plot to be entertaining and wholesome too. The only thing I disliked about the novel is how long it is and so it took a while to finish. Other than the novel’s length its definitely worth the read especially of you love fantasy and adventure. @Celine of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
Book 2
I borrowed this audiobook with the hopes of listening to one of my childhood favorites while on the way to and from work (I have a long drive). I was sorely disappointed because this is not the book and I was frustrated that this dramatization does not even follow the story. It changes what I believe to be a crucial story plot point within the first half hour of listening.
I think that many of the reviews below are referring to the CDs of the audiobooks. What you download is an abridged version that's dramatized. It's listed as unabridged which it is not. This is a great version of an abridged dramatized version if you do not want to listen to the original.
But it's still awesome!
This book sets a standard for English literature, fantasy and world building that often emulated, has yet to be matched. A classic that is very much a must read, and yet not an easy one.
