I liked the book Harry Potter & the sorceror's stone by J.K. Rowling because it was really cool. Kids would like it at the age of 7 because it has a lot of magic. My favorite characters are Hermione & Harry. My favorite part was when Harry got to Hogwarts. -V, age 7

Somehow, I've managed to see all the Harry Potter movies multiple times - but never got around to reading the books. Here we are 20+ years later and I am so glad to have taken the time to start the journey all over again! I needed something lighter to read during Safe-at-Home and the unlimited downloads of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone kept popping up around the internet. I gave in, downloaded a copy for my Kindle, and thoroughly enjoyed slipping into a magical world of friendship and adventure for a few evenings. Just as magical and exciting even when you've seen the movies and know what's going to happen! Essentially this book felt like a giant hug - would recommend!

Big breath in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth- this moment of relaxation was felt during the entirety of re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I literally grew up with Harry, I was eleven when this book came out and impatiently waited for each installment after. The idea of picking this up during a pandemic was an escape from reality that i desperately needed and it felt like coming home to Hogwarts. I have lost count on how many times I have read this series and it never disappoints.

This story is about a kid named Harry Potter who lost his folks when he was only an infant. On his eleventh birthday celebration, he discovers that he is a wizard. This story finishes us the new and energizing universe of enchantment and wizardry. I truly delighted in this story since I found the universe of enchantment and wizardry extremely intriguing. We are acquainted with a wide range of people. To imagine that there is an entire other mystery magical world makes the story very unique imagine and visualize about. What truly caused me to appreciate reading this book was the significant plot twist at the end.

Twin: "I'm not Fred, I'm George. Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother? Can't you tell I'm George"
Mrs Weasley: "Sorry, George, dear."
Twin: "Only joking, I am Fred."

(Twins Fred and George have letters on the front of their knitted Christmas sweaters. Ron doesn't)
George: You haven't got a letter on yours, Ron. I suppose Mum thinks you don't forget your name. But we're not stupid. We know our names are Gred and Forge.

Harry Potter never seemed to fit in anywhere. As an orphan who lived with his cousin, aunt, and uncle, he didn’t even really have a family. He had nothing, that is, until someone showed him a world of magic, literally. On a dark and stormy night, on the floor of a hut in the middle of the ocean, Harry Potter heard a strange creaking at the door. It was early in the morning on his eleventh birthday and his aunt and uncle had taken him off the map, made him untrackable by those trying to contact him. Still, Hagrid, the headmaster of Hogwarts’ trusted friend, arrived and took Harry away to where he belonged as a wizard, the wizarding world.

A month later, Harry was on the train to Hogwarts, then he was at Hogwarts, and before he knew it, Christmas had arrived. By then, Harry and his best friends, Hermione and Ron, were searching for the identity of the mysterious Nicolas Flamel, for this would answer their bigger question: what was under the trapdoor on the forbidden third floor? Eventually they found their answer. Believing their evil professor, Severus Snape, was after the precious object to help a truly dangerous entity, they set off for the adventure of a lifetime. What they found under the trapdoor was more than they had bargained for.

As a lifelong Harry Potter fan, or Potterhead, I greatly enjoyed reading the first book in J.k. Rowling’s famous series again. Knowing the entire story by heart, I loved finding little easter eggs, pieces of foreshadowing, or underlying metaphors. This book would rank high on my ten 25 favorite books, without hesitation. I recognize now how quickly the story moves along compared to the other books. The stories became more developed as the each book came out. Having read the other six books, I want to know more about Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. That is the only fault I can find in this wonderful novel.

I have and always will recommend this entire series to anyone. Harry and his friends are so relatable, so human, that the reader feels as though they are part of the fantastic trios. The incredible story is so transporting, one might actually believe they have entered the wizarding world, and long for it as much as Harry when they are away from it. Every part of the story are compelling in different ways. It is a great birthday present to start someone on this awesome series. It has something for everyone.

What did Harry Potter know about magic? He was stuck living with the decidedly un-magical Dursleys, who hated him. He slept in a closet and ate their leftovers. But an owl messenger changes all that, with an invitation to attend the Hogwarts School for Wizards and Witches, where it turns out Harry is already famous...

The Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series where you read about his first year at Hogwarts. Many strange things happened in Harry's life that he couldn't explain, until his 11th birthday when he found out he was a wizard. Against his aunt's and uncle's wishes he was sent to Hogwarts and had many daring adventures through out the year. Including something about Nicholas Flamel and the Sorcerer's Stone...

The novel opens with a description of the Dursley family, a middle-class family that lives in Little Whinging, Surrey. Vernon and Petunia Dursley are constantly worried that someone will find out about Petunia’s decidedly “unDursleyish” witch sister, Lily, and their worries are justified when Lily’s infant son, Harry, is left on their doorstep. Lily and her husband, James Potter, had been murdered by the dark wizard, Voldemort, but when Voldemort attempted to kill Harry, his power somehow broke. Harry becomes the only living person ever to survive the killing curse, and the only sign of his encounter with Voldemort is a unique lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. Because Harry does not have any other living relatives, Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, decides to leave him with the Dursleys until he is old enough to attend Hogwarts.

The story starts with the introduction of Harry Potter, the protagonist of the story. Harry is the sole survivor of the fatal car accident that killed his parents- or so he is told. Harry is forced to stay with his aunt, uncle, and cousin, and lived a miserable life right up until his 11th birthday, when a mysterious figure shows up, and reveals to Harry about what he truly is; the secret that his surviving family members had kept secret for so long. He is a wizard! With his new identity, he attends a school for wizards and witches, and makes new friends. He also finds out the real truth of his parent's death, and gets involved in a suspicious plot involving the attempted robbery of a very valuable object. What will become of him? What is the object so special that everyone wants to steal it? This book is about true friendship, loyalty, adventure, and is a notable book for anyone who enjoys magical adventures.
