My 17 year old self or so loved this movie. I was feeling nostalgic for Ever After. This movie makes you believe in love and that things are possible.

My 35-year-old self can see why I loved this film so much. It is still enjoyable today.. But life experience changes my perspective on things. That is life.

This is one of my favorite movies, ever. My girls grew up on it and I so appreciated the visual beauty of all, costumes, cast, and LOVED Leonardo da Vinci's part! Thought that was truly inspired. I make all my new friends watch this, if they haven't already. And I'm in my 60's.

I don't see the stars to rate it, but I'd give it 6!

Drew Barrymore shines in this unabashedly romantic rewrite of Cinderella which forgoes magical interventions and talking mice for a more practical approach—even the requisite Fairy Godmother is replaced by a most unexpected Renaissance cameo. Filmed on location in the French Dordogne region where castles and forests nestle beneath perpetually blue skies, "Ever After" never strays very far from its fairy tale inspirations. All the characters are scrubbed clean, sunlight sparkles off every surface, and any sense of menace is quickly damped down to Disney levels—a roving band of gypsy cutthroats turn out to be just a bunch of party animals while the "wicked" stepmother's scowling machinations are reduced to an unhappy woman’s mid-life crisis (Anjelica Huston manages to inject a bit of pathos into the role). It all ends happily ever after of course with nasty people getting their comeuppance and a gushing Royal Ball to rival any little girl’s (or boy’s) storybook fantasy. Light and fluffy throughout, but somehow satisfying just the same.

A delightful and enjoyable, yet different take on the story of Cinderella. Drew was meant for a film like this. So much respect for actress Angelica Huston as the wicked Stepmom. Certainly warrants a look or two. If you love fairy tales, you'll get a whole new perspective.

I don't know why I love this movie, but I do. It's a pretty flimsy retelling of the Cinderella story with the world's worst "French" accents, but it's also beautiful, all of it: the costumes, the settings, the story, the prince. :) It's a good, solid love story with an intelligent sense of humor and a delightful but not in-your-face dose of girl power.

Watchable (Fair) - Somewhat entertaining adaptation of the Cinderella story. I had a hard time seeing Drew Barrymore as Cinderella probably because her persona as a Drew would never be caught in the situation of Cinderella - chock it up to poor casting.
