Second prize again – isn’t good enough for him. Things are perfect or they’re garbage.

when you got out of the cradle and onto two feet, he came face to face with his genes – his looks – his temper, which he doesn’t control well. You two used to scare hell out of me . . . when we were seven. You had his temper. He had his temper.

Comment
Add a CommentA huge amount of this book is spent on characters thinking, talking, analyzing, speculating, with very little action. Only recommended if you loved Cyteen and wanted to follow those characters further.
This novel is similar to the later novels in the Foundation series (the prequels and sequels written by Asimov towards the end of his life): some very intelligent characters spend an inordinate amount of time discussing every possible aspect of a situation until it is beaten to death and the reader is utterly confused. That said, the world and the plot of Regenesis are great (as they are in the prequel Cyteen), if only the author would let the actions speak for themselves.
Right, so it's not really an example of a babe with a blaster, but this list-building thing is new to me
