Charles Ryder’s friendship with the charming Sebastian Flyte and his family begins when they are both at Oxford in 1923. Carefree days of drinking champagne and driving in the country soon end, however, as Sebastian’s health deteriorates. Questions about morality and religion are raised as the radiant tone gives way to a bleak atmosphere of shattered illusion. This an unabridged reading of Evelyn Waugh’s most romantic and controversial book, narrated by revered British actor Jeremy Irons.

Charles Ryder's friendship with the charming, irrepressible Sebastian Flyte and his equally charming, eccentric family begins when they are both Oxford undergraduates in 1923. Carefree days of drinking champagne and driving in the country soon end, however, as Sebastian's health deteriorates. Questions about mortality and religion are raised.

This is an interesting look into the life of an English college student in the pre-WW2 era and is easy to follow.

This is it - Jeremy Irons reads to YOU! And he reads Birdeshead Revisited which he starred in BBC adaptation - very very good!!
5***** audio book - just listen!
Does anyone else listen to audiobooks?? If they do they don't write comments!!! Maybe all booktapes addicts have no fingers??? Lucky I do!
Is there a forum for "book tape" addicts - why read when you can have it read to you???
Why not have Jeremy Irons read you Brideshaed Reviisted?? Evelyn Waugh is not "easy" but listening to this is really easy!!!
