The creative team behind Xena Warrior Princess and Hercules the Legendary Journeys bring Terry Goodkind's critically acclaimed Sword of Truth series to the small screen with Legend of the Seeker. It is a challenge to find a well made fantasy series, especially with the precedent Game of Thrones has set, but I tend to gravitate towards good storytelling and intriguing characters even if the special effects aren't top notch - which is Legend of the Seeker in a nutshell. I love that they instilled quite a bit of Xena-esque humor throughout the series, something that is lacking from the books, but if you are looking for a word for word adaptation, you will have to look elsewhere. I had so much fun watching this, and it inspired me to read the books ASAP, which is a testament to how much I enjoyed the show. If you're in the mood for something lighthearted and a tonal foil to Game of Thrones, then Legend of the Seeker is your next great series.

Gave up after the first disc and a half. While the photography, scenery and slow-motion action sequences were spectacular, the stories are uninspiring.

of course it is not the book series - it was never meant to be. Still, certainly Season 1, a great show worth watching!

I am just about done watching the second season of this show. HUGE disappointement after reading all of the books, even though for those you have to get past the spelling errors on every other page... but good books. If you like the show, try reading the books. There is so much more to the story than whats in this TV series.

If you liked the book "Wizard's First Rule" you will like this show but remember that it is based on the book not by the book. I found that the only thing that was really like the book were the names of most of the people and places. The screen writers and directors took a lot of creative license with this show, in that regard it was a let down since the book was so good.

Wizard’s First Rule: people will believe a lie because they want to believe it’s true, or because they are afraid it might be true.
