This novel is exceptional and held my interest throughout. The mystery was fascinating to follow as the story progresses and it keeps the reader eager to learn more clues. The emotional turmoil that Hunter experiences as he learns about his heritage aids to help him learn why he always avoided commitment.

The author is touted as one of today's top suspense writers but I was very disappointed. The plot isn't a new one but it's lackluster. The cat & mouse game the main character, Wyatt Hunt goes through only fair.

I was enjoying this book a lot until about halfways in, when I think the author went a bit too far in trying to set up the plot and ended up ruining what would have been a perfectly good book without the "Jones" subplot. I like Lescroart's work but I don't think this was one of his best books

Probably not the best I've ready by him but a good read nonetheless

I agree with dorothy. I too have a read a number of his other books and found this one the least enjoyable - by a lot. The threads in the story just never connnected

I have enjoyed John Lescroart's books very much and could hardly wait to get this one. However, it did not meet my expectations, perhaps because I was hoping to meet the same cast of characters as his previous books.
It was slow moving, and wordier than necessary in my opinion. Wish I could say it to his face.

Sorry John!
