Add a CommentGreat record, but I find myself always wishing the instrumentation would be more "muscular" sounding. Steely Dan touring band trumpeter Michael Leonhart is all over the recording, playing a wide range of instruments, and he co-wrote many of the songs with Fagen, which explains why it sounds a bit different than other Fagen solo albums. 4½ stars.
Micheal Brecker never played with him Walter Becker is alive
It appears that the singing/songwriting duo of Donald Fagen and Micheal Brecker are seriously missing the Micheal Brecker part. Donald Fagen without Brecker is no Steely Dan.
I have listened to a few of his post Brecker CD's and the voice is memorable but the songwriting is missing the mark.
It was very sad to hear of Brecker's passing and probably more so to Fagen. Not only did he loose his hitmaking partner, it seems he also lost his career.
Give this one a miss.
