I am rating this book for my toddler. My husband and I don't care much for the book, but son loves it. The repetition appeals to him, and he loves to have mom and dad sing the song. It is also a plus that he loves shoes, and his favorite fruits include blueberries and strawberries, so the book is a hit for its content matter. Depending on your perception the drawings could be seen as cute or sloppy, but really it's audience doesn't care, so this book is a success overall.

Truly delightful in every way. A great read-aloud, with a great catchy rhythm and a wonderful positive message. The story is simple yet charming and is a sure-fire hit with a storytime crowd.

Another great book about Pete the Cat who has a good attitude about what happens in life and how you can look on the good side of anything that happens to you or anything that you might step into! I did not know there was actual songs to go with his lyrics! That'll be another fun activity to go with this book. I'd recommend any of the Pete the Cat books to parents and grandparents. It would be a good read for children who experience depression or perhaps some kind of difficult life experience.

One of my favorite picture books of all time! It is silly and fun, with brightly colored illustrations and a simple storyline. Pete is a great role model for having a positive attitude and going with the flow, no matter what happens in your day. Great for kids of all ages, especially 3 and up, and fun for grownups, too! You can also sing or chant Pete’s short songs, or listen to the story and songs online. Sing it any way you want! Pete will surely bring a smile to your face.

I paired this with Karen Beaumont's "I Ain't Gonna Paint No More" for a sing-along storytime. Fun times!

My 3 year old granddaughter liked this book so much we have read it three times. Great colors and easy for her to tell the story herself after hearing it one time.

Pete starts his day with a pair of beloved white shoes and no matter what he steps in, he keeps singing his song.

Aesthetically appealing--simple and stylish-- Pete the Cat is a wonderful story about resilency, something all children really need to learn about. (Adults, too!!) Pete knows how to make lemonade out of lemons. When something goes unexpectedly wrong: "did Pete cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song." Pete knows the art of appreciating what he's got, rather than wanting what he hasn't. He's cool, musical, a great guitar-playing role model who knows how to enjoy life. We love Pete!
