1922. Six months after Matthew's tragic death, his loss is still felt throughout Downton Abbey. Mary struggles to face a new future with her fatherless child, and is encouraged by the family to pick up the pieces. Accepting a new role on the estate, the now-eligible Mary also finds herself the reluctant object of attention from a number of eager suitors. With the twenties in full swing and the tides of change sweeping through Downton, Rose's continued attraction to the bright lights of London spells trouble for the Crawleys, and Edith's budding relationship with Michael Gregson is threatened by events beyond her control. Meanwhile, below stairs, passions run high and young hearts look set to be broken.

I probably shouldn't admit that I only planned on watching the first episode or two of the series to see if I'd like it, and I wound up watching all 6 seasons in one week. But, well. There ya' go.

An engrossing series following the Crawley family and their servants. Treats everyone with respect, no caricatures here.

Yep, plenty of trials and tribulations. New characters keep the relationships fresh.

I used to love Downton Abbey. But in season 4 they spent who knows how much to bring in Kiri Te Kanawa the famous opera singer to play Nellie Melba the famous opera singer, who was too big a star to play house parties. to play a house party, the only dramatic purpose of which was to drag everyone into one room so that Anna Bates, a beloved character, could be brutally raped in the kitchen of a house where otherwise no one ever had any expectation of privacy and her screams couldn't possibly not be heard. That's just cheap, sleazy soap opera emotional manipulation, not respectable drama.

This is a wonderful series! The acting is superb, Maggie Smith is fabulous, as always. Each character is played as though he or she is a person you know. Sometimes it's 'laugh-out-loud' funny, and sometimes a tear rolls down my cheek. I look forward to further series.

Fabulous of course, one thing I do is watch it with closed captions so I don't miss a word of dialogue while taking in the costumes, jewelry, furnishings and plot lines. karen

My Wife and I enjoyed it. It is better than the faux reality shows.

A time that no longer exists.........
