Indie film buffs will love this 2014 Jim Jarmusch vampire film set in Detroit, of all places! With great acting by Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston, a fantastic soundtrack that includes rockabilly great Wanda Jackson and American blues and R&B/soul singer Denise LaSalle, and its unusual storyline, you will want to watch this one again.

Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston are immortal vampire lovers. How did we not notice this about them earlier? This is a slow-moving and sumptuous outing, with very little in the way of gore and violence but lots of ennui and stylish brooding. Glorious.

A slow, poetic, sensual look at vampires by the indie auteur Jim Jarmusch. An excellent film with a great music score.
The point of most art films is to make you think a little- must be tough for some people.

Too slow. Too dark. To boring. No good shots. No good costumes. No go hair and makeup.
What is the point to this movie?

A movie for lovers. Soul-mate lovers, no less... If you have ever had a soul-mate, someone you would love for centuries, someone who, even when you are apart you always carry a piece of them with you... if you know what I am talking about then you will love this movie. And, if you don't know what I am talking about... man, that really sucks (vampire pun intended).

Retired vampires! I loved this film, the images, acting, characters, sly humor, cinematography. I will watch it again. Regret not seeing it at a theater on the big screen.

Yes thinking is tough for most people. Thats why they created reality Tv. For the rest of us who believe film and music are art forms they make movies like this >> fantastic 420
But yes Michael Bay movies do have to many explosions

There aren't too many movies that I turn off, but less than 1/2 way through I was so bored I ejected it from the machine and couldn't return it to the library fast enough. Far too artsy and slow for my taste.

Given these characters' rich histories, I was expecting more than this slow-paced, broody movie. I don't know if the decision not to use flashbacks was stylistic or budgetary, but there was a real lack of backstory. Ava in particular was more of a plot twist than a person. This film follows a very small group of characters, so how they met, how their current dynamic came about, is important. HInts of the past were much more interesting than the ennui and lethargy of the present.

Weird, arty, and it's hard to find a point.
