I enjoyed this updated isolated British country manor mystery filled with suspicious people with issues. It's nice to read a mystery that doesn't focus on super detectives that are incredibly intelligent or strong. I don't get all the Gone Girl comments but it is pretty good for a first book.

Overall a great novel. The beginning was a little slow, a little boring even, and I didn't really like the style it was in (so many parenthesis)! But once the story got started, it REALLY got started. The author worked me into such frenzy that I finished the book in one day. And I don't do that. Bottom line is I think it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

A total page turner! My mouth dropped opener when the big twist was revealed (about midway through the book) and I rapidly read toward the finish afterward! I'm not saying this is a literary work of art, but if you want an interesting psychological thriller you can finish quickly, this one's for you! All the characters really started to get under my skin and I think that's exactly what the author wanted.

Just another entry in the 'twisty' mystery craze right now. No matter how clever the twist, it is no substitute for a well written story with just enough clues to keep you guessing.

While this thriller was definitely not what I expected, it was just dark and twisty enough to keep me guessing and reading to find out what happened next.

Totally sucked in. Loved the whole experience of this book and we all were talking about it at lunch. Recommend if you're looking for a fresh thriller.

Suspenseful English story about a reclusive woman who attends a "hen party" or bachelorette party hosted by one of her best friends back in grade school. The story reads like a gothic novel with a house that looks out of place, dark woods and intrigue. The story keeps you in suspense throughout (which i like), but the ending left much to be desired. Love the suspense and the writing but can't give too much more than that because of the not- so thrilling ending. Overall a good starter book for the author.

Picked it up twice but kept getting lost in the many fillers. It sounded like a great plot, but I just kept losing interest.

Not the best mystery nor the worse. A good read for a few hours before bed or while having coffee. I did like this book much better than the author's "The Woman in Cabin 10" Let's hope her 3rd book will be much better.
