It's the story of a famous rock star vacationing with her lover on a remote Italian island. While the couple basks in the foreshadowing heat of the Mediterranean sun, their lives are soon disrupted by the unexpected visit of an old flame and his seductive daughter, creating a whirlwind of jealousy, passion and, ultimately, danger for everyone involved.

La Piscine was a starring vehicle for Alain Delon and Romy Schneider; it was really a lot of fun to watch. 50 years later we get this mess of a movie with two charismatic actors--Fiennes and Swinton--and a stupid plot that doesn't pass muster. Swinton as a rock singer reduced to whispering owing to laryngeal blow-out? nonsense. Fiennes as a producer endlessly reminiscing about his glory days with the Stones? more nonsense. The supporting cast is pretty awful, especially the detective. You may ignore this one without feeling any guilt at missing a "prestige" picture.

I thought this movie was pretty cool. Loved the 4 main characters. Not sure why so many people disliked it. Slow yes, but you just want to know what was going to happen next. It's keep me interested.

Overall pretty boring, too many dark scenes where you can't see anything (what's with this love affair with directors shooting in pitch black lately?) It's getting very annoying!! Apart from a few funny scenes, not really worth watching.

Mediocre screenplay with impressive sceneries, & even more impressive actings. Who knew Ralph Fiennes could be so .... uh .... liberated ?! That alone is reason enough to see it. For me anyway ~

It is a remake of a 1969 classic. No chance to see the original, just wonder if that of St Tropez is as picturesque as what I saw in this film of the Italian island Pantelleria.

One of the worst and most boring movie I have ever seen! Waste of 2 hours of my life!

It is a movie about four people vacationing on the Italian island of Pantelleria.Tilda Swinton is a rock star unable to speak and trying rest her voice with her younger boyfriend and Ralph Fiennes, her former partner and his daughter. The island vistas are very beautiful but the story is very slow and leisurely with the foursome just hanging out together and you have to wait to the last 20 minutes for something dramatic to happen. Ralph Fiennes is in overdrive here really chewing on the scenery and Dakota Johnson does a good job herself in a more subdued and flirty role. A little boring for the audience but it looked like all the actors had a great time filming it.

Oh, no-- not worth your time--not even the time to pick it up or drop it back.

Be warned: Patience required! Disappointing; expected more given the high critics' ratings. It dragged and was relatively boring until near the end when it picked up. If not for the ending, I would have rated it about 1 star. The ending elevated it to 3 stars.
