Directed by Oliver Stone in 2016, this 135-minute docudrama depicts a thrilling fact-based tale.
Snowden has done what he was supposed to do as a freedom-loving, conscientious citizen who's fighting against Big Brother.
It is a profoundly well-crafted docudrama you would love to the hilt if you're againt Big Brother.

In the extras is an interview with Snowden that is better than the movie. Please spend the time to watch the Question and Answer session.

Snowden is a absolutely must see film! It's brings to mind what the CIA & NSA is doing to all of us. Joseph Gordon Levitt gives a powerful performance in this movie. This a another adult must see movie.

Snowden, a proud American, is now forced to live in Russia as an asylum seeker. Every American--regardless of political beliefs--should watch this movie about the continuous surveillance we're now undergoing and Snowden's journey from innocence (what a colleague characterizes as "Snow White") to sharp awareness of the betrayal of our founding ideals. Director Oliver Stone also focuses on his relationship with his girlfriend, a free-spirited artist who both complements him and challenges him to step outside into Real Life. One of the truths: all of our data is captured, analyzed, sold, and used to shape people's lives. A good companion movie may be "The Lives of Others", which notes the almost hilarious development of nearly half of East German citizens spying on the other half. When is enough, enough?

This is a movie every American should watch. I admire this young man; he has given up so much in order to do what was "right". Yet so many folks apparently still have their heads in the sand as regards how easy it is for Big Brother to watch your every move. I am all for security of a country and keeping us all safe, but the invasion of personal space when there is absolutely proof or even possible proof that you are doing something wrong is no reason to invade your privacy. History will eventually exonerate this young man and hopefully he can go home soon.

He-and others before him-did voice their concerns way before going to the press after seeing the "whatever" attitude people around him in power were killing using this tech. The fact that Oliver Stone, Zachary Quinto, and Levitt got behind this is testament to it's importance. Snowden gave up the "easy life" so we could be informed of unchecked spying of US! Live after the movie interviews with Snowden, Stone and others are humanizing of a hero who has been prejudged. Please see as an American citizen first.

Snowden is a traitor. This movie makes me glad that intelligence agencies are monitoring all to look for some evil extremists.

I did not know about Snowden. Therefore the movie did a good job of presentation of the career development of Snowden and his eventual going to the press to break the news. Very good movie.
