I thought this movie was solid. The cast is great. But I thought the first part of the movie was kind of a snooze fest. After the pressure blows then it gets more exciting. Overall a decent flick.

I hesitated borrowing the movie due to the way Hollywood hides the facts or misleads the people. The movie plays relatively down the center keeping the people working on the rig in mind. It's about the working people who lived and died during the rig explosion(s). There are lots of extras included on the DVD.

Having worked for over 25 years in the oil industry, I found this movie of particular interest. 5 of those years was for BP. I though BP's culture was accurately reflected in the movie unlike other oil companies I worked for, BP was about money over all else. I thought there was some miscasting for some of the rolls, but then again it's Hollywood where the A list folks get the rolls. Having experienced some fires and explosions, I thought the pyrotechnics were a bit overdone...but then again, I wasn't there.

A spectacularly shot true story of an oil rig disaster. I found it to be more interesting and not as stereotypical as disaster flicks like this could be. The emotional toll that we see that the disaster takes on the characters, during and after, give a real humanity to what happened.

Exceptionally poor dialogue audio. I had to run subtitles to understand wtf was being said. No excuse for that.

I wasn't certain what to expect, but we found this to be a very interesting and entertaining movie based on actual events. Excellent choice of actors and an interesting weave of well-developed character plots.

This movie focuses on special effects rather than on the role of BP in the disaster and its aftermath for the environment.

I wasn't expecting much but I really enjoyed this movie.

It doesn't go into depth on all the mistakes leading up to the explosion and there is absolutely no mention of the ensuing environmental disaster afterward.

But the story line was well-paced, the cinematography was spectacular, and the special effects were noteworthy. Mark Wahlberg actually acted like a normal guy in this flick and Kate Hudson was perfectly cast. I always had a soft spot for Kurt Russell and John Malkovich played the asshole really well.

A very good action-packed rental movie. Unfortunately, everyone has forgotten this tragedy and BP got away scot-free. Now the folks in this part of the Gulf Coast will continue to suffer and to vote for Trump.

Jimmy Harrell: The pressure test costs about what, a hundred and fifteen thousand? BP is a thirty three billion dollar company, and you say you can't afford...

Vidrine: That is why we are a thirty SIX billion dollar company, because we worry about all those bills.

Jimmy Harrell: I worry about my rig! My people live on it. You just rent it!
