There is a significant amount of text on each page, so this is absolutely a picture book for older children, but the text is also very straightforward, informative, and clear. Frederick Douglass' story is certainly remarkable. The oil illustrations on each page, carefully detailed and masterfully constructed, are truly something brilliant!
