What a fascinating life Trevor Noah has already lived! I loved listening to his voice. I highly recommend this book in audio. I was captivated by his stories and his close and endearing bond with his mother. He presents an informative narrative about life in South Africa and his personal experience of the effects of Apartheid.

Amazing story.

Highly engaging and entertaining, which is unsurprising given the author is a professional comedian and entertainer. Less expected is the insightfulness, breadth, and quality of the writing. Noah had an extraordinary childhood and he draws upon it for a wide range of personal stories, all united by his deep love and respect for his mother, who has clearly been the largest influence on his life. Highly recommended.

Trevor Noah is a great narrator. He is easy to listen to and he is also an excellent storyteller. His book captured his intelligent observations and his comedic styling.

Amazing! This is one of those titles that I'd recommend you listen to rather than read the paper version. Noah's reading is true to the story as it's his and he lived it. The non-English parts are fascinating to hear (don't worry, he translates), and his accent just gives the stories an added detail of setting.

I learned so much from this book, not just about the man, but about South African Apartheid and history. Don't expect his normal brand of humor, though there are some funny bits. Very enjoyable!

This is a terrific read providing great observations about living in one of the most racist countries in modern times. The author - Trevor Noah - brings forth several stories from his childhood in Apartheid South Africa told from a unique vantage point of being mixed race (black mother and white father). His parents were proscribed from marrying much less socializing in public. He manages to relate his story with humor, poignancy, and keen observation and introspection. His mother was indeed quite a woman bring up a family in a society that both heavily racist and sexist all the while resisting and driving out of her sons any self-pitying thoughts. The audio by the author is terrific because of his ability to speak the various African languages. There are a few places where the chronology is somewhat confusing due to the time overlap of some of the stories.

This is one of those books that should be listened to, not read. His performance is brilliant.

You get a better sense of who Trevor Noah is and better appreciate him as well. People go through bad times, but Trevor's life may put yours in perspective. A great listen plus he will pronounce names you will never be able to.

A MUST READ—or better yet listen to Trevor Noah read the story of his childhood in South Africa. He was an crime. His mother was black, his father was white and that was illegal. Bill Gates is right. This is one of the best books to read this summer.

This audiobook is... a must. It is read by the author/entertainer, Trevor Noah, himself and it is brilliantly executed. You laugh because his delivery of events is so amusing, but cry because the reality of the content is overwhelmingly brutal. There's no question... a must.
