This reminded me of Scott's Chicken Villa (aka KFC). The paradigm shift involving property was unexpected but not surprising. Another example, Walmart and Canadian Tire are actually just in the business of selling shelf space. If you find this film intriguing or revealing, you might really enjoy the book Good To Great.

Without his persistence and drive, McDonalds wouldn't be where it is today. Do you do this by playing the nice guy? Absolutely not. An interesting watch if only for the backstory behind the billion dollar chain.

There are so many four-letter words you could use to describe Ray Kroc. After watching THE FOUNDER, I came away with two realizations: one, the title of this film is absolutely sarcastic, and two, Michael Keaton needs an Oscar already. This film has a case of bait-and-switch in that Ray seems like a pitiful creature that we should empathize with, but much like the antiheroes of great television programs like, say, BREAKING BAD, absolute power corrupts absolutely. As someone who hasn't ate McDonald's in about a decade (it's not political so much as that I don't like their food), I feel pretty good about not contributing to their overwhelming success. The exploitative Ray Kroc is something else, something indescribable in his ruthless behaviour. It's a shame and surprising considering that Ray got screwed over by slimy men in suits and struggled to understand why failure came to some and success to others. You wouldn't think that someone who could relate to the little guy would stomp so hard on them given half the chance. But that is Ray Kroc. While the film itself told an honest story, it lacked pizzazz for sticking to the truth, which meant the story suffered at times. However, Keaton's performance as Ray is unquestionably strong, one that deserved far more attention than it garnered. After this, SPOTLIGHT, and BIRDMAN, good things will come his way soon. If I was a betting woman, my money would be on Keaton. I recommend THE FOUNDER.

As usual Michael Keaton gives a great performance; this time as at first glance the underdog, later to become the villian. I was so outraged by what he did to the two brothers. I am glad that I am not and have never really ever been a patron of Mickey Dees. The rapport between the two brothers at the beginning is priceless! I definitely recommend this!

Seeing as this was based on a true story, I was not expecting the ruthlessness of Ray Kroc. I did not enjoy how he exploited the brothers. Very sad actually. Makes me want to boycott McDonald's. Interesting story.

A loser finally gets a break, then uses and abuses everyone around him. Lying, cheating scum who makes you want to stop the movie and never go to McDonald's again.

I remember when McDonald's first came to Canada. Small cities considered the opening of a McDonald's franchise to be a status symbol. McDonald's enjoyed great public relations for decades. I wonder why the criticism of the founder and the roots of McDonald's is occurring so late now. IMHO, I would rate "The Founder" at 4.0 stars.

This movie was great! Never know one man took over McDonalds. Michael Keaton gives a great performance as Ray Kroc. This is a adult must see movie. Not a kids movie. There's to much talking about growing a business.
