I thoroughly enjoyed this book by a current professor of physics, which chronicles the lives and ideas of two of the late 20th century's greatest theoretical physicists and their many brilliant colleagues, as they explore various bold new ideas on how to explain the increasingly complex world of particles and forces. The writing is engaging. There is no math here, but plenty of character development and a good sprinkling of "physics for the layman" with just enough depth to interest the scientist and illustrate the sometimes-chaotic path that scientific discovery takes.
