Poor Carrie Mathison. In Season 6 of “Homeland”, once again she is dragged back into the muck that is the spy business. She wants to care for her daughter and do work that is meaningful and good, and leave all that murky spycraftiness behind. She has done her service for America, she should be left alone, already. But, no. Carrie’s talents are so special and the stakes are so high that, despite her enormous baggage, when those in power call on her for help, she cannot refuse. At least this time she didn’t have to go overseas to save America, because Season 6 takes place right here in the U S of A. In addition to her somewhat undefined job in a legal aid office, Carrie finds herself advising the new President-Elect on an informal basis. Changes always happen when a new administration takes over, but the changes proposed by the President-Elect, with Carrie’s input, threaten those invested in the status quo. Eventually, all hell breaks loose with Carrie right there in the middle of it. Season 6 takes political divisiveness to the extreme. One might wonder if something like Season 6 of “Homeland” could actually happen in real life, especially since we seem unable to bridge the yawning chasm between the two sides of our democracy. I am hopeful that life will not imitate this bit of TV art. “Homeland” is not the five-star show it once was, however, Season 6 justifies the notion that Carrie Mathison’s story still has value.

Totally binge watched Seasons One thru Three. Loved them. Must go back and watch Four and Five before commenting on Season Six. Hope they don't disappoint.

Hill Harper and Mandy Patinkin should never be hired to act in anything!

Fantastic viewing. One of the best series of all times with a compelling story line, great characters and fabulous plot twists. Don't miss this.

Love this series! Keep it coming. As long as the writing and characters are compelling why stop? Great for binge watching.

Carrie struggles to take care of her daughter, a damaged friend and the new President elect.
What about Saul? What about Dal Adar?

Terrorism came to New York City as deep state instigators at home and abroad saw their calling to educate the incoming president elect by fanning sedition. Riveting action drama though there were subplots that seemed improbable for the good guys to be fooled. In sum, very little in the feel good department in S6.

The performances have always been top notch in this series, but this year ( season 6) Rupert Friend stands out. The relationships, secrets and set ups in this season lead to a good finale. Looking forward to next season.

This season was good, the last episode was the best of the season. I have always loved Peter Quinn and he is one of my favorite characters. The show does need to get back to it's roots instead of politics in DC so much in this season.

You know what General McClendon just told me? Put 70,000 troops into Syria and ISIS is done and dusted in six weeks. What does CIA think? Oh, don't be shy, gentlemen. Jump right in. This is a free-fire zone.
-Well the problem is not so much destroying ISIS, … Bigger problem is holding and securing the territory afterwards.
So now it's a ground invasion and an occupation.
-Otherwise, just another ISIS waiting in the wings.
The mission is creeping, gentlemen.
-Unfortunately, the alternatives don't look much better.
What about getting out?
- Excuse me?
Leaving. Telling the American people this isn't working and bringing our forces home all of them. … Why not? If the war isn't winnable, what are we still doing there?
-Containing the enemy, for one thing. Preventing them from turning the region into a base for attacking us here at home.
Or maybe it's time to recognize that not every problem in the Middle East deserves a military solution.

What did you expect would happen if you let down your guard? If you announce to the world that the terrorist threat has passed? “Oh, they’re all in Raqqa or wherever, bringing on the end of the world over there with their goats.” If you stop pushing back against them here, every minute, if you are that stupid, what do you get? Boom! That’s what you get!

Why do you do it? Why do you post all that ugliness up online? Photos of fallen American soldiers. Links to suicide bombers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why do you do that?
- It’s meant to shock people. Wake them up to what’s happening in the Middle East. If someone breaks in your home, logic dictates you do whatever it takes to get them out.
Would it surprise you that I sympathize with what you just said about defending your home?
- Except for when that home is in a Muslim land and the invader is the U.S. military. Then it’s terrorists killing Americans.

I am the next president of the United States. 60 million people voted for me. Who the hell voted for you?
- Nobody. But I have a constituency, too.

Are you threatening me now?

As of today, we have boots on the ground, like the protesters I had to wade through to get here. Does that seem familiar to any of you? Because it does to me. It’s what we did in Nicaragua, Chile, Congo, a dozen other places, all the way back to Iran in the 50s. And it does not end well for the elected regime.

What I did was unforgivable, Saul, but I'm not sure it was wrong. There's something off about her-- the xxyyzz, I mean. I know. I've said it before. There's something dogmatic and dangerous, something distinctly un-American.
===
One-and-a-half million of those posts came within a minute of the video being released. How is that possible?
-People were angry. They felt that you tricked them, stole the election on the back of your son's fake war record, so they responded.
People didn't respond. That is a physical impossibility. Those numbers exist because a vast majority of those posts were made by bots-- digital entities pretending to be people. Dig into those identities and you find no one-- no real names, no Social Security numbers, no addresses, no jobs, just a stream of hate. Dig deeper, you find many of these bots are run in a place called the Office of Policy Coordination, which is in a building off of I-95, with a control center six floors underground.
