The theme of this book is learning about the seasons.
I like the part where Frog is told that spring is around the corner.
Turns out spring IS around the corner!
Toad is so like me! I love staying in bed where it is warm and cozy.
I think that my one best friend would really love this book.
Arnold Lobel is a master storyteller, in both the text and his performance. These tales are simple but hold a magic in them. Our 2 year old daughter demands this in the car all the time.
I expected these classic stories to be way beyond the ken of my three year old but she delights in them even if she may not understand fully. It is nice to see her focus on the prose despite the fact that there is more narrative than imagery here.
One in the best series of fictional book for young children ever. My nearly four-year-old son still loves these books, as do I. We've been reading them to him periodically since he was a baby. He even takes them to bed with him, and I'm eventually going to buy all four books. Laced with charm and sly humour, the gentle spirit and captivating illustrations create a special alchemy that is loved by generations. I actually feel envious of Arnold Lobel's abilities - I wish I had written them! Like any book, the more effort you put in to reading them and connecting with your child (great opportunity to try out some character voices), the more he or she will get out of them. No deep messages here, but there's really something special about this series.

A classic. I remember these when I was young. Now my children enjoy them. Actually bought the collection for our home library. Beautiful friendship.
