Aladdin is a 1992 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. It was the fourth produced during the Disney film era known as the Disney Renaissance, and has a remake being released in 2019, prompting me to write this review. This movie is a charming masterpiece, filled with nostalgic music, memorable moments, and comedic bits. The characters in this movie are what make it stand out, and surprisingly it is not the character whose namesake was given to the movie. Particularly the late Robin Williams work as the bombastic genie, who’s creative antics litter the film with laughs. I also thoroughly enjoyed the villain, Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman, and his over the top diabolical plots. The only problem with making the film so enjoyable and accessible is it has lost some of its roots. There is very little mythology and lacks a bit of thematic substance in my opinion. In terms of production, the film still holds up today, and nothing takes away from its quality. A family film classic that should be seen by all, I recommend seeing this one as soon as possible if somehow you have avoided it until now. 4/5 Stars. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This movie teaches that people are not always what they seem. Aladdin is not exactly the best guy, well at least the most honourable guy. After he frees a genie from a lamp and is asked to make a wish, he quickly realizes that in the wrong hands this genie can mean bad news. In order to protect the woman that he loves, Princess Jasmine, he must fight evil while also hiding from her who he truly is. This movie shows differences in class and upbringing, and also the ability for people to change. It is a fairly interesting story and well known by many, so I would rate it 4/5 stars. I recommend it to people with a love of Disney Princesses and an interest in genies. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library I've seen this movie so many times and every single time I watch it I do not get sick of it! It is one of the cutest movies that exists, and I hope everyone has already seen it because it is definitely my favourite. The movie is about a little poor boy that is friends with a monkey and steals food on a regular basis. Eventually he meets a princess named Jasmine and she and him immediately click. Little does Jasmine know, Aladdin is not the boy he claims to be. He really has a genie making wishes come true for him, and that is one of the reasons that she started talking to him in the first place. Not only was the movie amazing, but the songs in the soundtrack that was released for the movie is one of the best Disney soundtracks out there. I'm so happy I got to live in the generation that has gotten to experience the amazing Disney movies. They were a huge part of every child's life and they continue to be today. Since this is my favourite Disney movie I would recommend it to everyone who has not seen it. I rate this movie a 5/5. - @Montgomery of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
