Season 5 of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" is superb. The characters are now fully developed and the actors seem comfortable and familiar in their respective roles. Patrick Stewart IS Captain Picard... Brent Spiner has the "Data" act down pat... Worf no longer has bad hair days. And the writing? Top notch. The episode "The Inner Light" is arguably STNG's best episode... and "Cause and Effect" is a fun, creative, time paradox that will leave you seeing the number 3 everywhere... "Darmok" is a beautiful examination of story, metaphor, legend and ultimately, the price we are willing to pay for peace... the "I, Borg" episode takes on genocide, individuality, fractal viruses AND post traumatic stress disorder... and the "Unification" episodes guest star Leonard Nimoy as, wait for it... SPOCK! And... the season cliff hanger "Time's Arrow" will make you, ahem, lose your head (pun intended). STNG really found itself throughout all of Seasons 4-7, separating itself from the original series and becoming something special on it's own. Season 5 is STNG in full stride. Watch it... love it... live it! And, you know... boldly go n' stuff.
