I couldn't believe all the negative library patron reviews on this flick so I opted to write my own positive review. The first time I saw this Cohen Brothers film I was underimpressed by it too. I don't think I even finished it. What's the point? Why is it relevant? I teach a college class and every quarter I make a list of everyone's all time favorite movies. It's a culture building experiment. For years this movie appeared on every list so I revisited it. After about the 3rd viewing I began to understand. I've seen it at least 10 times now and find myself understanding where I fit in the Lebowski cosmos. In my first viewing I could not see what was special about it. I think that's because I knew all the characters in real life and I suspect I was one or more of those characters. As I aged I distanced myself from that lifestyle and found myself on the outside looking in rather than a fish swimming in the waters. Now I watch the film for the characters that I miss. A nostalgia for the past America of my youth. That and the music. It's a great film but that's just my opinion man.
