This was my first Virgil Flowers encounter and I think I like the guy. He ranks a close second to my all time favorite, Robert Parker's Spenser. The plot moved along at a good clip and the action was believable and intense at times. The only thing I thought was hilarious through all the tough guy personality and driving force to get the bad guy was the scene where Virgil is sitting in a restaurant, starved to death.... starve to death, and he orders an apple salad and a piece of carrot cake. His friend orders chocolate mousse. What??? Though the book was much longer than what I usually read (414 pgs), I like the book and will definitely read another.
