Now this movie is what you call, a masterpiece. How to Train Your Dragon is brimming with excitment, heart, and lots of gags. Hiccup is a really great main character, starting out as a complete loser, to slowly gaining populairity and freind throughout the movie. The relationship between him and Toothless is beutiful to watch. It was not just caring, but also funny with Toothless trying to draw, and forcing Hiccup to eat a raw fish he threw up. Stoik, the father of Hiccup and chief of the vikings, is also great to see on screen. All he wants is his son to be safe, but not really certain how to show it. It would have been nicer to see more of that, and not just seeing Hiccup bond with his dragon. This imporvement also follows with Hiccup's girlfriend Astrid, who went all goo goo eyes from him after she took one flight with him and Toothless by the end of the movie. It may sound crazy, but I think this movie would have done better as an episode series, taking its time seeing Hiccup gain the respect and friendship of his fellow peers, and earn Astrid's affection more better. But even with that, HTTYD is still worth it to watch. It burning with fun and joy for all. 4.5/5 stars - @BooksRUs of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board A young boy named Hiccup aspires to be a dragon killer. As the name suggests, dragon killers fight dragons. During an invasion that occurs one day, Hiccup sets out by himself to go take down some dragons. He shoots something down from the sky, and later goes to look for it in the woods. He finds a rare dragon which he intends to kill. However, he has a change of heart and decides not to kill it. A close friendship blossoms between him and the dragon, which he names Toothless. Perhaps Hiccup can help the Vikings and dragons end their fighting and become friends like Toothless and himself. - @JuiceboxZ of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library How to Train your Dragon is definitely one of my favourite movies. The story is centered around a teenager from the island of Berk named Hiccup, he aspires to join the rest of the vikings to fight against the dragons that continuously assault his village. However his father, Stoik the village leader, would not allow his small and weak son to hunt dragons with them. Regardless of his father's opinions, Hiccup uses his invention and manages to catch a Nightfury one night during the dragon's invasion. Hiccup successfully brought the dragon down but he couldn't bring himself to kill it. Instead he brings the Nightfury home and names him Toothless. How to Train your Dragon also has amazing animation, I would recommend you to give this movie a watch! - @eto of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
