A Bronx Tale is probably the best movie depicting good values and standards, and the mafia, and maybe one of the only film to depict the two in volume simultaneously. You've seen that simpsons episode where bart does odd jobs for fat tony after school? They're referencing this, Robert De Niro's first directing attempt. You can almost hear the traditional old school message he's trying to relay to viewers, including haphazard attempts at racism conflicts, and the role of family and father figures. It's both fairytale and unabashedly gritty, and certainly earns a lot of the merit it has garnered over the years, even if it is somewhat estranged from the usual bittersweet mafia entertainment fare that has been borne from the Godfather and the Sopranos. Also, there's a scene where bit by bit they send people at a fevered gambling function into a bathroom according to their ill fortunes.
