There are two separate stories going on in this book. One: Emily's parents have split up and Dad has moved to his own home. Two: Emily is an artist who has been learning about Picasso. She is sad about her parent's split and she goes through an artistic blue period. Then she learns about collages at school. She has to make a collage of her house. This is a challenge for Emily since she now has two homes. She takes a little from each home and makes a perfect collage representing her home. The illustrations are colorful and interesting. This is a bit of a difficult book because of the split topics. If you are looking for an art book, you have to read through the story of divorce. If you are looking for a book on coping with divorce, you have to enjoy learning about Picasso. If you would like both topics at once, you are in luck! The book is written in such a way that it would be appropriate for all school age children.
