“Minions” is an adorable and funny movie. This was the movie that started the extreme minion rush. Everyone became obsessed with these cute little yellow creatures and I am guilty of being one of them too. I'm really glad that they decided to make minion inspired merchandise as well. My favourite character in this movie is king Bob, he is just too cute and funny. Bob is just “one in a minion.” That is just one of many quotes based on the movie that took over the internet when this movie was released. This is a really nice family movie and I would recommend it to children who like hilarious and sweet characters who are on an adventure. I rate this movie a 4.5/5. @TheBookieReadingMonster of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Minions is a great film. It tells you about the first masters they served before Gru. So, basically this the movie before Despicable me happened, background knowledge. This movie is based around single-celled yellow organisms at the dawn of time, Minions live to serve, but find themselves working for a continual series of unsuccessful masters, from T. Rex to Napoleon. Without a master to grovel for, the Minions fall into a deep depression. But one minion, Kevin, has a plan; accompanied by his pals Stuart and Bob, Kevin sets forth to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. Their search leads them to Scarlet Overkill, the world's first-ever super-villainess. This movie is funny and will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I love how they show the bond between the three minions. I would recommend this movie to kids aged 5+. My favourite character would have to be Bob because he is the kindest most gentle and warm-hearted minion, he is adorable. I loved how the trio of the minions each had a different personality like Bob was the sweet one, Stuart was the serious and smart one and Kevin the funny and hungry one. Overall, this is an amazing movie! 5/5. @TheBookWorm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board People complain the heck out of this movie online, saying stuff that their is already to much of them in previous movies, and they are so childish and annoying, but really, Minions is not half bad. The plot surly is not new, with the usual underdog story routine, but in those regards, it does not do poorly. Kevin goes from a crackpot to a hero for his tribe, and having to undergo the task of saving his entire people. The other two main characters, Stuart and Bob, are honestly, less then perfect. Stuart just tags along with the others and literally does not change his lazy bum attitude, and Bob just remains the cute comic relief throughout the movie to. Cute, but still bland and one dimensional. The movie's villain, Scarlet Overkill, is what you would expect from a kids movie, but it was a little bit nice that they added the fact that she was once a lonley girl when she was younger, and that was why she turned to a life of hatred and villany. It surly is not award winning character writing like Thanos or Mr. Freeze, but it was okay for what this movie is. For real, Minions is not a bad watch. It has its pit falls and dumbness, but that is what makes it great. It is a fun kids movie that anyone can enjoy, like how candy is usually loved by kids, but older people can get a kick out of it! So if you want some despicable fun, laugh your way to Minions, a movie that is truly bananas! 3.5/5. @BooksRUs of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
