It was hard to watch this movie and not think the character would have been better off dying in the horrific crash that starts off this story. Nevertheless, it's astonishing to see him pull through after months of self-pity and agonizing pain. That's the most uplifting part of the story. As others have said, the title is a bit misleading as very little of the movie is spent on his out-of-body experience in heaven. I didn't care particularly for the portrayal of heaven. Everyone there was dressed in their Sunday best. Somehow, I envision the inhabitants of heaven far more of an eclectic bunch ... one that includes piercings and tattoos ... not just modestly dressed men in suits and ties and women in skirts and dresses primarily below-the-knee.
