I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. Psychological thrillers are not usually my first choice but when I saw that this one had a philosophical aspect too I decided to read it. The novel is gripping, smart and the topic it investigates is fascinating. The main characters have interesting conversations from a philosophical and analytical point of view and I found myself enjoying what these were exploring. The author creates an atmosphere of tension and fear that is at times almost unbearable and he does this in such a clever way: by describing scenarios and situations where everything is ok except for something that is out of place. As we can read in the novel "something that disorients, that unsettles what's taken for granted, something that disturbs and disrupts reality-that's scary". Iain Reid has mastered this way of building deep suspense and the effects on the reader are so powerful. When I got to the end I was captivated by how clever the entire idea was. There is even a forum for readers of this book to discuss about it -because it will keep you thinking about it once you finish it and you will want to know more. At times bizarre but unstoppable there is something I can guarantee: you will start rereading it again straight after you finish the last pages.
