every thing is not fine. I'm a fan of Wenders but not Franco, though he was not too smirky in this role, but quite flat. I found the performances quite stilted - the emotional connections of the characters seem to be just beyond their grasp. Gainsbourg and her son live in isolation both physical and emotional and his rescuer abandons him. the tidy ending doesn't reflect the psychological trauma displayed earlier in the film. I liked the Canadian setting.... and the cinematography. a disappointing effort from Wenders given his history of Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire and The American Friend among others.
