Luckily I found this book on the "Express takeout shelf" so I didn't have to wait in line to read this novel. Reader's of Child's books know that much of the book will involve descriptions of travelling the countryside without seemingly much happening until about the middle of the book. Then the book becomes really interesting to read as the plot rushes towards the climax of the story. In this novel, the reader travels with Jack Reacher along Wyoming's back roads in order to locate an ex-army major, a female. I like how Child portrays Reacher's thought processes in figuring out why she would have sold her class ring, where she might be hiding out and why, and how to catch a large ring of drug dealers. The focus of this story is about wounded veterans who develop a drug dependency on their pain killers. Be prepared to read many paragraphs about the effects such drugs have on the user. Child's description of that effect may answer the question of why people take these kinds of drugs in the first place. Looking forward to further action in Kansas in Child's next Jack Reacher novel.
