Huge Jill Thompson fan here, and this gorgeous, hard-cover, original graphic novel manages to offer yet another origin story for the most famous Amazon in history that explores something new, yet retains the iconic elements of Wonder Woman's story. Thompson imagines the Amazon princess as being so coddled and adored by the Amazon population that she becomes vain and self-involved, to the point of bringing shame and tragedy to herself and her sisters through her thoughtless selfishness. It's an interesting conjecture as to what ultimately forms Diana's virtuous character. And Thompson's artwork is gorgeous. This is one beautifully put together novel. A worthy addition to the WW canon.
