Just read the comic (Hellblazer). Seriously, it's much better than this trash. The character has been completely neutered and Americanized (for some reason). Chas has been reduced to a know-nothing kid played by the annoying LeBoof (who personally destroyed Indy 4) or however you spell his name. Gone are the lords of Hell (except a late cameo appearance that makes no sense due to there being zero world building of his domain. He's the lord of ash-world?) or any semblance of actual spiritual world structure, now it's just a random wasteland with guest appearances by the Resident Evil's Lickers. John Constantine is such a rich, complex personality, with many layers, nuances and quirks. So, of course Hollywood hired an actor with zero range or emotional depth to portray him. Typical. The only positive thing I have to say is they did a great job with casting Hounsou as Papa Midnite. He's a non-factor in the comic, only appearing for a few issues and dying like a chump. Djimon brings a malevolent gravitas to the role that is greatly appreciated and sorely lacking in the rest of the film.
